Wayne County, NY - On-Site services required at multiple senior meal locations

On-site work will be required at several locations around Wayne County

Duration: Hours / Week: 12-16 hours

Contract Term: 1 year with up to two (2) optional one-year renewals

The consultant Registered Dietitian will support Wayne County's senior nutrition services for Home-Delivered Meals (HDM) and Lunch Club 60 (LC60) congregate meals by ensuring nutrition program compliance, education, counseling, and food safety.
• Ensure that seniors under Wayne County's various programs are meeting their nutritional needs through the planning and review of diets
• Ensuring compliance with nutrition standards through monitoring and training
• Education of staff, volunteers, and the public through various delivery methods


Key Responsibilities:

1. Menu Development & Certification
   • Review and certify 5-week cycle menus
   • Ensure compliance with NYSOFA regulations
   • Conduct nutrient analysis and recipe modifications
2. Nutrition Counseling & Assessment
   • Review physician diet orders and assess clients' nutritional risk
   • Provide individual nutrition counseling (especially to high-risk clients)
   • Maintain client data in the PeerPlace database
3. Education & Staff Training
   • Deliver monthly nutrition education at meal sites
   • Conduct food safety training for LC60 staff and volunteers
   • Write nutrition articles for the "Threescore" newsletter
4. Food Safety & Site Monitoring
   • Conduct monthly sanitation reviews at all LC60 sites
   • Perform ride-alongs for HDM to monitor food temperature and delivery issues
   • Review food handling, storage, and inventory procedures
5. Program Support & Reporting
   • Attend required field team reviews and advisory council meetings
   • Monitor subcontracted providers (meals/catering services)
   • Submit monthly reports to the Nutrition Program Director

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential (licensed in NY State)
• Valid driver's license , reliable transportation, and active auto insurance( Mileage is NOT reimbursed)
• Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and willing to learn systems like:
  • PeerPlace
  • ServTracker
  • Food Processor
