What you'll do

The Registered Professional Nurse II, Acute Care is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.

The responsibilities include:

• Providing nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.
• Collecting, analyzing and recording relevant patient health data accurately.
• Analyzing assessment data to identify patient problems.
• Identifying expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
• Developing a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Implementing and recording interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.
• Evaluating the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals.
• Adhering to approved, research-based practice standards.
• Directing and supervising patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel.
• Demonstrating consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.
• Acting effectively as charge nurse, group leader or preceptor when assigned.
• Writing a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient's status and progress toward achievement of goals.
• Ability to function in charge nurse or leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.
• Advocating for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Delivering care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.
• Assuring that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures.
• Acting on behalf of patients in an ethical manner.
• Adhering to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.
• Acquiring and maintaining current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
• Providing proof of current licensure validation to supervisor.
• Completing required unit credentialing according to departmental policy.
• Providing to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.
• Participating in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually.
• Demonstrating clinical problem-solving ability.
• Participating in quality improvement processes for the department and institution.
• Participating in nursing research.
• Committing to an attitude of inquiry, research-based practice, and the advancement of nursing science.
• Helping to identify clinical problems requiring investigation.
• Assisting in the collection of data within a structured format.
• Partnering with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice.
• Performing other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.

What we need from you

Education:

• 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required or...
• Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or...
• 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

Experience:

• Minimum one year experience as a Registered Nurse, if experience is not relevant, Registered Nurse II must complete RN residency program, required

License/ Certification:

• Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse, required
• BLS certification will be required within 6 months
• Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
• Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching
• Frequent fit testing
• Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking

Hazards:

• Occasional radiation/radiant energy
• Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure

Working Conditions:

• Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid

Travel:

• Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis

We are also offering a sign-on bonus for this position! The bonus amounts are based on the position type and are listed below. Additional details and eligibility requirements will be discussed during the interview process. At the discretion of leadership, this program may terminate or be suspended at any time.

• RN (excluding management) sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $20,000 for full time
• LPN sign on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $10,000 for full time

Pay Transparency

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum: USD $41.81/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $60.87/Hr.
