National Commercial Underwriting Manager I - Healthcare Practice Solutions

Job Overview Location: Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States of America Hours: 40 per week Compensation: $115,440 - $186,160 USD Responsibilities Lead the underwriting department for the Healthcare Practice Solutions Group (HPSG) within C3M. Manage a team of approximately 6 underwriters, including hiring, setting goals, developing staff, managing performance, and handling disciplinary actions. Oversee workflow and review approval packages; recommend and/or approve loans within NCUM credit authority. Provide mentorship, motivation, training, and coaching to direct reports. Establish credit structure, borrower and facility risk ratings for new and existing credit relationships. Direct Centralized Credit Management staff in portfolio monitoring and origination of new credit exposure. Ensure adherence to risk policies, operational risk processes, and regulatory audits. Exercise loan decision authority up to position limits defined in credit policy and participate in high‑risk authority decisions. Engage in appeal discussion with sales management and/or credit risk management. Contribute to policy and standard adjustments and drive team turnaround requirements. Maintain satisfactory portfolio delinquencies and charge‑offs. Build and maintain productive relationships with business partners and encourage team collaboration. Coach Credit Managers and Underwriters to develop value‑added credit solutions aligned with risk appetite. Drive employee satisfaction, morale, and organizational strategic initiatives such as process improvement and system enhancements. Qualifications Undergraduate degree preferred. 10+ years of commercial lending relationship management, underwriting, and/or adjudication experience. Prior lending authority ≥ $1 million preferred. Experience with Small Business Administration / Agency, Healthcare Practice Solutions, or other specialty lending preferred. Prior people management experience preferred. Proven leadership abilities; ability to lead in a highly professional, systems‑based environment. Advanced analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, time‑management, and decision‑making skills. Excellent communication (verbal, written) and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy with standard office software. Proven credit underwriting and administration skills; ability to identify and mitigate risk. Customer‑focused mindset and strong planning skills. Physical Requirements The position is primarily sedentary. Required physical abilities are summarized below: Occasional: 1–33% frequent physically demanding tasks. Continuous: 67–100% sedentary work and operating standard office equipment. Standing: Occasional. Walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead: Occasional. Lifting or carrying under 25 lbs.: Occasional; over 25 lbs.: Never. Other minor tasks such as squatting, crawling, climbing, twisting, pulling, pushing: Never or Occasional as noted.
