This program is aimed at decreasing the impact that food insecurity has on the academic success of Sac State students. Working independently, under general supervision, the position is responsible for ensuring the ASI Food Pantry runs efficiently. This includes day-to-day operations, training and supervising staff and volunteers, and marketing and communication of ASI Food Pantry programs. The incumbent will build and facilitate connections across campus and in the community and will work to continue to expand and enhance the services provided. The Food Pantry Coordinator is considered an essential staff and is expected to report to campus during campus closure to provide essential ASI services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the daily operations of the ASI Food Pantry. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate Food Pantry Assistants, College Corps Fellows, and volunteers. Oversee and coordinate a robust student volunteer program that helps to support the day-to-day operations of the ASI Food Pantry. Perform job duties safely and encourage workplace safety for interns and volunteers. Stock, monitor, and maintain all ASI Food Pantry inventory. Ensure all Food Pantry staff complete ServSafe training and follow the appropriate food handling safety requirements. Pick up and transport food from the Food Bank and/or other vendors to the ASI Food Pantry. Maintain and run systems to track & analyze ASI Food Pantry program/participant data. Collaborate with partner agencies to create educational and outreach programs, including Free Groceries Pop Ups and Friendsgiving Feast. Build relationships with faculty and staff to develop and enhance a volunteer program, while bringing awareness of the ASI Food Pantry to Sac State students. Connect students with food insecurity to other campus resources and services offered by the Basic Needs Resource Center. Serve as the point person for any physical/maintenance needs for the ASI Food Pantry. Maintain and update the ASI Food Pantry website, social media, and communications to students. Stay up-to-date on best practices of college food pantry and new industry developments. Other duties as assigned. Ability to patiently explain procedures and or the necessity of seeking assistance from the appropriate source. Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports. Ability to successfully fundraise and outreach to donors. Ability to research, interpret and act based on an understanding of policies and procedures. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are presented. Ability to comprehend and interpret regulations and requirements and apply them in a production process. Strong written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on critical review and editing of documents for clarity, readability, and grammar. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Two years of related work experience; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to research, interpret, and act on complex policies and procedures; Considerable judgment and discretion in applying complex administrative policies; Strong written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on critical review and editing of print documents for clarity, readability, grammar, usage and syntax; Demonstrated ability to exercise leadership and work as a team member; Ability to work independently to lead projects to completion; Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are presented. Basic proficiency with inventory/data-tracking tools (e.g. PantrySoft or similar). LICENSE & CERTIFICATES A valid driver's license is required for this position. Out of state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver's license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations. Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses. Additionally, within the first 2 weeks of employment the candidate selected must receive a ServSafe Food Handler permit. Within the first 2 months of employment, the candidate must successfully pass and receive a ServSafe Food Manager certification. Both of these certifications will be paid for by Associated Students, Inc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, touch, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must 1) regularly move up to 50 pounds 2) must be able to reach overhead. WORK ENVIRONMENT Office setting with moderate noise level.
