Essential Functions & Responsibilities Operations Technician: As an Operations Technician you will be responsible for performing field work on a customer site in Whiting, IN to meet the goals of the onsite operation of centrifuge equipment in a safe and conscientious manner. The Operator Technician is responsible to assist with the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of centrifuge systems used for sludge dewatering within the British Petroleum (BP) oil refinery wastewater treatment facility. This role supports Chemical Operators to achieve environmental compliance, waste minimization, and continuous operations by monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining centrifuge equipment and associated processes. Key Responsibilities Assist the operation team to monitor centrifuge systems for sludge dewatering. Assist the operation team with maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs. Conduct routine inspections of centrifuge equipment, pumps, polymer systems, and associated piping and hoses. Complete daily operations and inspection reports. Collect and analyze samples (sludge, centrate, & oil effluent) to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Coordinate with maintenance team for planned and unplanned shutdowns or repairs. Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational data in accordance with plant procedures. Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals (e.g., polymers, coagulants). Follow all refinery safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hazard communication. Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and always maintaining safe practices. Prepare necessary supplies, tools, monitors and other equipment for daily operations. Provide labor support for installation of liners in roll‑off boxes and safely operate pumps, heaters, forklifts, filters, scrubber systems and sampling. Monitor pumps and piping systems, tank levels, centrifuge operations, loading and unloading operations and roll‑off boxes. Operate small hand tools and equipment; make repairs to equipment as needed. Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
