MRI Technologist

Job Description Responsible for creating cross‑sectional images of patients’ bodies for diagnostic purposes, using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Principal Accountabilities Position patient on the examination table and place the specified coil (receiver) such as head or knee coil, close to the area of interest, following protocols requested by the radiologist. Demonstrate use of the microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during the examination. Enter data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into the aperture of the MRI equipment (head or feet first) into the computer. Key commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers in the computer. Observe patient through the window of the control room and on the closed‑circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort. View images of areas being scanned on the video display screen to ensure image quality. Key in data on the camera keyboard to photograph images. Alert staff entering the magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around the magnet. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a Radiography Program or related field. State RT License / MR Certified / BLS.
