Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who will be responsible for providing high-quality, effective patient care through the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. In addition to providing direct patient care with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventative measures, the nurse practitioner shares responsibility for the provision of high-quality health care in compliance with state, federal, and ambulatory accreditation requirements.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver care that is culturally competent, affirming of a wide range of student/learner identities, and promotes the diversity, equity, and inclusion values of the Student Health and Well-Being practice.
• Use evidence-based clinical and theoretical knowledge to identify acute and/or chronic health problems through a comprehensive, age-appropriate assessment of patients using skills in taking medical histories, screening, physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, and prescribing appropriate medications and treatments.
• Educate patients with a significant emphasis on health maintenance and preventative measures.
• Provide continuity of care and coordination of available healthcare services using appropriate referral to agencies and specialists as indicated.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to meet patient, staff and departmental needs.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for own patient care decisions. On a regular and continuous basis, exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results that impact people, costs, and/or the quality of service within the functional area.
• Participate in peer chart reviews and pass periodic laboratory proficiency testing and quality control reviews.
• Systematically record information in an electronic medical record in accordance with state and federal medical/legal requirements.
• Comply with state, federal, and ambulatory accreditation requirements and policies within SHWB.
• Attend SHWB meetings and educational opportunities and show evidence of continued self-development and professional involvement by participating in activities and educational programs of professional organizations.
• Participate in Student Health & Well-Being Primary Care Committees.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• The successful candidate should have experience working with diverse patient populations and appreciate and relate effectively to individuals who hold multiple, intersecting identities including but not limited to: historically marginalized and under-represented populations, various ages and developmental status, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, international status, disability, gender and sexual identities and presentations.
• Demonstrated competence in young adult health, public health, or college health.
• Philosophical commitment to the care, development, and education of students and trainees.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and facility in emails is required.
• Knowledge of Excel helpful.
• Must successfully complete all required and ongoing electronic medical records training as directed.
• Must complete all required HIPAA and any other specified online training courses deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
• Current CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
• Additional experience may substitute for master's degree, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two to Four years of experience as a nurse practitioner in adolescent/young adult health, public health, or college health.
• Certified nurse practitioner licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the State of Maryland and Washington, DC.
• Active or eligible for DEA, and Controlled Dangerous Substances registrations.
• Successful credentialing and privileging through Johns Hopkins Hospital and SHWB.

Classified Title: Nurse Practitioner Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MG Starting Salary Range: $112,572 - $152,900 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)
