Junior Sommelier

Kiln is seeking a junior sommelier to join our service team and work closely with Vincent Balao, our Beverage Director.

All new service hires begin by training as backwaiters to learn our menu, service standards, and the rhythm of the dining room. Alongside this training, the junior sommelier will develop their knowledge of our beverage program and take on responsibilities in preparation, organization, and service.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing spirit-free beverages and supporting daily beverage setup
• Executing beverage service to our standards, including pairings, bottle and by-the-glass service, and corkage
• Assisting with inventory and maintaining organized beverage storage and service areas
• Supporting the dining room team throughout service, anticipating guest needs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in wine, curiosity about spirit-free beverages, and a thoughtful, attentive approach to hospitality. Previous restaurant experience and wine knowledge are encouraged, though we are happy to train the right candidate. A willingness to study, ask questions, receive feedback, and contribute to a small team is essential.

Schedule and compensation:

The schedule is TuesdaySaturday, with Sundays and Mondays off, along with scheduled annual closures.

Compensation is $23$30 per hour, depending on experience and skill level, plus tips pooled among eligible staff members.
