Kids Are Our Everything.Department10281 Pharmacy AdminPay Range$125,049.60 - $208,436.80The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services leads and oversees inpatient clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, evidence-based medication use and optimal patient outcomes. This role provides leadership for clinical pharmacy operations, formulary management, medication safety, opioid stewardship, quality improvement, and staff development while partnering with interdisciplinary leaders to advance strategic clinical initiatives and expand the value of pharmacy services throughout the organization.About the Role:The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services will develop, plan, implement, direct, and evaluate activities, resources, for Pharmacy Clinical programs and services. Will be responsible for the overall direction as well as clinical and operational success in accordance with national standards and Children's National policies and procedures.What You’ll Bring:Minimum Work ExperienceAt least 5 - 7 years of progressive related experience. A minimum of 6 months of supervisory/management experience in hospital pharmacy or academic setting. Recognized Clinical expertise in Pharmacy practice.Required Licenses:Pharmacist in the District of Columbia (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeRecognized clinicalExpertise in the area of Clinical Pharmacy. Knowledge of Strong knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiar with department budget and interpersonal communication.Functional AccountabilitiesOrganizational PerformancePlan, implement, direct, and evaluate assigned department on a strategic and operational level to ensure CNMC’s move to a “Top 5” organization and an Employer of Choice.Monitor department processes and seek opportunities to improve operations.Implement strategic plan through management of clinical operations of the department.Ensure compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.Attend organization-wide multi-disciplinary clinical meetings as Pharmacy rep.See the potential in and understand the use of administrative and clinical information resources and decision-support tools in process and performance improvement.Proficient to compile and analyze data to support upper management decision-making.Supervise Residency Program director and provide direction and assistance as needed.Coordinate the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees as evidenced by meeting minutes.Represent the Department of Pharmacy Services (along with the Chief) on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee (a.k.a., P&T Committee); serve as the clinical drug expert for the Committee.Coordinate the medication usage evaluation process for the hospital and coordinate presentation to the P&T.Work with the Chief of Pharmacy Services and the Medical Staff to establish drug policy and develop means to enforce such policy.Develop programs and methods to document the benefit of pharmacist interventions (both in improving patient care and financially) to support, defend and justify pharmacy services.Develop clinical roles, programs and services that are achievable by pharmacists.Serve as Department Manager-on-Call.Serve as backup to IDS manager.FinancialIdentify programs and areas for cost reduction; specifically target drugs and therapeutic regimens that can be changed through pharmacy intervention to reduce cost; prepare methodology of program, obtain approval, and facilitate implementation of such programs.Contribute to development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.Assist Chief to evaluate performance reports and budget variances and develop action plans.Implements actions to facilitate meeting budget requirements.Clinical ServicesMaintain an active clinical practice; serve as a clinical specialist resource for pharmacists, nurses and physicians.Develop and oversee clinical initiatives performed by the Pharmacy Clinical Specialists and unit-based pharmacists.Act as a pharmacy liaison to support and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and pathways for the Hospital and the Department.Set criteria and select clinical pharmacists for eligibility to staff as unit based pharmacists.Serve as the Clinical Pharmacy liaison member of the Medication Safety Team.Assist the Chief to establish the strategic plan for department services, include short- and long-term objectives.Collect and analyze feedback on service/department effectiveness.Assist the Chief to incorporate findings into plans to modify program/service delivery.Why Join Us:Nationally Recognized Excellence – Consistently ranked among the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.Leading Pediatric Care – One of the largest and most comprehensive children’s hospitals in the country, offering nationally ranked specialties and cutting-edge treatments.Innovation & Research – A premier academic medical center with a strong commitment to pediatric research, education, and advancing the future of child health.Mission-Driven Culture – Dedicated to providing family-centered care while fostering a collaborative, supportive environment for clinical teams.The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position.
