Staff Pharmacist- Clinical, Inpatient - Part-Time, Rotating

Job Description Staff Pharmacist-Clinical – Inpatient Pharmacy, University of Chicago Medicine This role supports centralized and decentralized medication‑use systems, providing optimal medication therapy to patients while collaborating with a team dedicated to enhancing lives. Essential Job Functions Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all medication orders by evaluating drug selection, dose, frequency, safety, dosage form, allergies, drug interactions, and disease‑state interactions prior to dispensing. Supervise pharmacy technicians to prepare first and missing doses, order entry, deliver STAT medications, and coordinate IV therapy. Monitor drug utilization compliance with drug use criteria, clinical pathways, and IV to PO conversion. Document clinical interventions that prevent or eliminate drug‑related problems or promote cost‑effective therapy. Clarify and resolve medication order issues with prescribing physicians, suggest alternative therapies, provide investigational drug information, and identify adverse drug reactions. Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel. Participate in ambulatory pharmacy dispensing activities as required, providing dispensing, counseling, and clinical services in the outpatient setting. Staff Pharmacist Education And Experience Requirements Graduate of an ACPE‑accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred. Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Illinois (complete licensure within 60 days of employment). ASHP‑accredited PGY‑1 Pharmacy Residency required. Board Certification in area of expertise preferred. Clinical pharmacy experience (2‑4 years) in a hospital setting preferred; required if no PGY‑1 residency. Exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience. Experience in Oncology preferred. Position Details Job Type/FTE: Part‑Time (0.5 FTE) Shift: Rotating (alternating AMs & PMs, 7:00‑3:30 AM shifts, 2:00‑10:30 PM shifts) Unit/Department: Inpatient Location: Hyde Park campus, Hyde Park Schedule: Monday‑Friday and every other weekend; approximately 30 hours per week. CBA Code: Non‑Union Compensation & Benefits Overview Pay range reflects a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reviewed annually. Compensation offered will vary based on qualifications and experience. Pay ranges for union‑covered employees are negotiated by the medical center and respective union.
