General Manager

Blue Fox Concepts is a Minneapolis-based hospitality group behind Berlin and Animales. Our concepts have distinct personalities, shaped by the artists, musicians, chefs, bartenders, and regulars who make them what they are.
We are developing a new neighborhood hospitality destination in South Minneapolis in a former brewery space. The project will bring together a casual, full-service restaurant, a brewery, a café, and a large outdoor gathering space.THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced hospitality leader to bring this operation to life and lead it forward.The General Manager is the operational leader of the property and is ultimately responsible for the performance of the business. Success in this role means building a business that is great to work in, great to visit, and financially healthy.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the middle of the operation. The GM will build and lead the team, establish a strong culture, create systems and standards, drive financial performance, and ensure that every part of the property works together to deliver a great guest experience.

The right person is equally comfortable leading a team, working a busy service, reviewing a P&L, solving a facilities issue, and figuring out how to make the business better. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and café.
• Be present and engaged in the operation, particularly during key service periods.
• Ensure the business is consistently prepared, organized, staffed, and operating to standard.
• Identify problems quickly, take ownership, and make sure they are resolved.
• Maintain a high standard of hospitality, cleanliness, safety, and execution.
• Coordinate the different areas of the business so they operate as one cohesive hospitality experience.
• Develop and maintain clear operating standards and procedures.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, hospitality, and profitability.

• Recruit, train, develop, and retain a strong hospitality team.
• Build a culture based on the values of Blue Fox Concepts: hospitality, accountability, collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
• Lead by example and establish clear expectations for performance and behavior.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development.

• Create an environment where guests feel genuinely welcomed, cared for, and excited to return.
• Establish and maintain clear service standards across all areas of the property.
• Be highly visible and engaged with guests and the team during service.
• Own guest communication, feedback, and service recovery.
• Look for opportunities to improve the guest experience rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

• Take ownership of the financial performance of the business.
• Set and monitor goals for sales, labor, COGS, and controllable expenses.
• Build strong habits around purchasing, inventory, scheduling, waste reduction, and labor management.
• Work with the leadership team to identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability.
• Participate in regular financial reviews with Blue Fox Concepts and its financial partners.

• Maintain the building, equipment, and physical environment to a high standard.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance issues are identified and resolved promptly.
• Maintain records of equipment, warranties, preventive maintenance, and service providers.
• Coordinate with ownership, vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed.
• Ensure the property is safe, clean, functional, and ready for guests and employees every day.
