Staff Accountant

Position Summary

Responsibility for daily accounting transactions, analysis, and reporting of the company and all internal divisions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, General Accounting, and Cash Management. This position works closely with the Controller to ensure all internal and external accounting requirements are met timely and accurately.

Primary Responsibilities
• Reconcile cash and make journal entries

o Send weekly cash status updates to CEO & Controller

o Allocate deposits to appropriate divisions

o Post cash between intercompany accounts as needed

o Monthly account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end processes

o Monthly allocations

o Prepare standard journal entries

o Compile and update supporting documents for financial packet
• Invoice for services performed and/or as contracts dictate

o Communicate with service providers/employees to obtain data needed for billing

o Prepare invoices and submit to clients

o Apply cash received to invoices, track outstanding balances, provide status updates to Controller
• Accounts Payable backup
• Respond to ad hoc information requests in a timely manner
• Allocate divisional expenses for benefits invoices and make adjusting journal entries as needed
• Seek opportunities to improve the organization
• Ensure organized and thorough records are maintained with a logical audit trail

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience:
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field
• 1 to 2 years experience in general accounting role preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
• Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrates ability to plan, organize, schedule and complete work with a sense of urgency and within deadlines
• Ability to evaluate, analyze and proactively solve problems
• Ability to work effectively with others
