About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN licensure in Pennsylvania Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC Computer Charting Experience Description: Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge. Utilizes the standards of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Implements the nursing process through assessment of patient needs. Develops a plan of care to meet those needs. Implements nursing interventions and evaluates patient care outcomes. Cares for patients from neonate through geriatric age groups. Participates in scheduled on-call assignments as needed. Effectively functions as a team member and liaison between patients and staff. Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills. Demonstrates strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills. Communicates in a highly professional manner at all times. Exhibits a high level of mental and emotional tolerance. Maintains a professional attitude when relating to patients, families, and co-workers. Triages every patient entering the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psycho-social needs. Conducts hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room. Documents in-depth nursing history including chief complaints and healthcare status. Develops and implements ongoing plans of care. Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and functional. Updates care plans continuously to meet patient and family needs. Includes elements of discharge planning in ongoing discussions with patients and families. Manages complications and emergencies per established policies and procedures. Recognizes changes in patient health status and directs appropriate care. Documents patient responses to interventions to facilitate competent medical care. Implements health education for Emergency Department patients and their families. Educates patients and families on treatments prior to initiation. Assists patients and families with accurate health status information and referrals. Documents understanding of discharge teaching provided to patients and families. Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
