Pay Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour*

Work Schedule: Tue Fri 10:00AM to 6:30PM

Sat 8:00AM to 4:30PM

(Schedule flexibility required to meet business needs)

As an Eligibility Specialist 2, you'll get to make a difference in patients' lives every day! You will be a lifeline for patients navigating some of the most stressful moments of their healthcare journey. In this role, you'll meet directly with patients and families, listen to their stories, and help them access financial assistance programs that can remove barriers to receiving essential medical care.

This role goes beyond the basics of eligibility screening. You'll use your compassion, communication skills, and problem?solving abilities to guide patients' step?by?step through complex applications for Medicaid, Medicare, disability, and hospital charity programs. You'll take ownership of cases that require deeper investigation, coordination with hospitals and agencies, and see them through to resolution. Every interaction you have helps someone understand their options, feel supported, and move forward with confidence. In addition, you may provide coverage across multiple hospital locations within your assigned region and support the onboarding or training of colleagues by sharing your knowledge and expertise.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as a patient advocate, conducting advanced screenings with patients in-person at bedside, to assess eligibility for financial assistance programs.
• Engage patients via phone outreach to facilitate their cooperation and support the completion of required screenings and documentation.
• Guide patients through complex application processes for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, hospital charity care, and unique requirements for non-traditional funding, ensuring timely submission of accurate documentation.
• Independently manage application follow-up work, ensuring applications are progressing, completed, and resolved efficiently across multiple programs.
• Manage a high case load effectively, prioritizing tasks, following up on pending applications, and meeting deadlines while also adhering to productivity and quality expectations (KPIs).
• Support disability applications and appeals processes, including coordinating medical appointments, completing applications, submitting appeals, and following through on final determinations.
• Collaborate and build relationships across teams, acting as a liaison between patients, hospital staff, and government agencies to secure coverage and resolve eligibility issues.
• Assist in onboarding, training or supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices as requested.
• Communicate with clarity and empathy, explaining financial responsibilities and assistance options in ways that patients can understand.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Use multiple systems and tools to document, track, and report on patient information.
• Support operational needs, including providing floating staffing coverage at nearby hospital locations as required.
• Complete special projects, as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED
• Bilingual Arabic is highly desired, but not required
• 2+ years of experience in a customer-facing role (financial counseling, healthcare, social services, or similar environments preferred).
• Working knowledge of state and federal assistance programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security Disability.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle higher complexity cases, multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
• Tech savvy with ability to efficiently manage and navigate multiple software systems, applications, and platforms simultaneously.
• Ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically
• Comfort working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
• Ability to work independently, including in locations where you may be the only specialist assigned.
• Genuine care for patients' needs and concerns with ability to establish a rapport with patients through empathetic communication.
• Dependable, solution-oriented professional, who collaborates effectively with patients, hospital partners, and internal teams and colleagues
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
