The position is responsible for supporting code compliance, quality assurance and quality control, acceptance testing, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.\nThis role involves inspecting installed work, reviewing construction documents, plans, specifications, and applicable shop drawings, identifying and documenting deficiencies and non-compliance issues, witnessing and supporting acceptance testing, verifying corrective actions, and coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, City/AHJ inspectors, clients, project stakeholders, and other responsible parties to support compliance with approved design documents, applicable codes, specifications, and project quality requirements.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\n\n Perform daily field inspections of fire protection, fire alarm, fire suppression, and life-safety systems and associated installations.\n Inspect fire alarm, fire suppression, and life-safety installations for compliance with approved construction documents, applicable codes, specifications, and project requirements.\n Perform and/or support rough-in, above-ceiling, testing, final, acceptance, and turnover inspections as applicable to the assigned scope.\n Review construction drawings, approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, manufacturer requirements, and other applicable project documents to verify compliance with project and code requirements.\n Review fire protection and life-safety components and installations to verify compliance with applicable fire, building, and related codes.\n Identify non-compliance, deficiencies, incomplete work, and deviations from approved design documents, specifications, codes, and project quality requirements.\n Notify responsible contractors or subcontractors of identified deficiencies and maintain appropriate inspection and quality records.\n Issue, document, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), deficiencies, and other quality observations when required or authorized by project procedures and verify corrective actions and closure.\n Maintain accurate records of inspections, deficiencies, corrective actions, acceptance-test results, NCRs, and other information related to assigned inspection activities.\n Maintain electronic inspection logs and enter inspection results into applicable permitting, quality-management, document-control, or project-management systems.\n Witness, monitor, and/or verify acceptance testing and other required testing of fire protection, fire alarm, fire suppression, and life-safety systems in accordance with approved plans, project specifications, applicable codes, approved procedures, and inspection and test requirements.\n Verify that required testing documentation, inspection records, acceptance-test records, and supporting quality documentation are complete and properly maintained.\n Review inspection and testing documentation for completeness and compliance with applicable project requirements.\n Support testing, commissioning, startup, system acceptance, punch-list, closeout, and turnover activities as assigned.\n Participate in field audits and quality surveillance activities to verify compliance with approved project requirements and established quality procedures.\n Interpret and apply applicable fire and life-safety codes and project requirements within the inspector's qualifications and assigned authority.\n Provide technical input and recommendations regarding interpretation of City, State, Federal, fire protection, life-safety, construction, and related standards and local ordinances within the inspector's assigned responsibilities and authority.\n Coordinate professionally with contractors, subcontractors, City/AHJ inspectors, engineers, project management, construction personnel, commissioning teams, clients, and other project stakeholders.\n Support coordination and resolution of inspection, testing, and code-compliance issues with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), Engineer of Record (EOR), clients, contractors, and other responsible parties when assigned.\n Support investigations of fire protection, fire alarm, suppression, life-safety, testing, or quality-related issues and assist with development, implementation, and verification of corrective actions.\n Assist and mentor less-experienced inspectors when assigned.\n Provide technical support for complex inspections, acceptance testing, and code-compliance matters within the inspector's qualifications and assigned authority.\n May serve as Lead Inspector or provide inspection coordination or supervisory support when assigned.\n Perform other Fire/Life Safety inspections and quality-related duties as required and within assigned responsibilities.\n Support the overall QA/QC program and, when directed by the QA/QC Manager or company leadership, assist with inspections, documentation reviews, testing oversight, turnover activities, commissioning support, field audits, quality reporting, and other quality-related duties necessary to support project objectives and business operations.\n Adhere to and implement applicable site safety procedures.\n Perform other responsibilities as assigned.\n\nQualifications\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.\nEducation/Experience\n\n High school diploma or GED required.\n Relevant experience in fire protection, fire alarm, fire suppression, life-safety inspection, installation, testing, commissioning, or related construction activities.\n Experience conducting field inspections of fire alarm, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.\n Experience reviewing fire protection and life-safety installations for compliance with applicable construction documents, codes, specifications, and project requirements.\n Experience witnessing or supporting acceptance testing is preferred.\n Experience supporting testing, commissioning, startup, closeout, or turnover activities is preferred.\n Experience on large-scale industrial or technically complex construction projects is preferred.\n\nSkills and Competencies\n\n Extensive knowledge of fire protection, fire alarm, fire suppression, and life-safety systems and current construction procedures and technology.\n Strong knowledge of applicable fire, building, life-safety, NFPA, related codes, local amendments, regulations, and project requirements.\n Experience interpreting and applying applicable fire and life-safety codes in the field.\n Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, codes, and other technical documents.\n Ability to inspect fire alarm, suppression, and life-safety installations and clearly identify and document deficiencies and non-conforming work.\n Understanding of acceptance-testing processes and associated inspection and testing documentation.\n Understanding QA/QC processes including inspections, testing verification, NCR management, corrective-action verification, field audits, quality documentation, commissioning support, and turnover.\n Ability to participate in investigations of inspection, testing, and quality issues and support appropriate corrective actions.\n Ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.\n Strong time-management, organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.\n Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments in a fast-paced construction environment.\n Ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff members, contractors, subcontractors, City inspectors, AHJs, engineers, clients, and other governmental or project entities.\n Ability to represent the company in a professional manner.\n Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.\n Knowledge or experience with BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, or similar construction and quality-management platforms is preferred.\n Candidates must remain familiar and current with applicable fire, building, life-safety, NFPA, and other codes and standards relevant to their assigned scope.\n Ability to work in a construction-site and trailer-office environment.\n\nLanguage Proficiency\n\n Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.\n Ability to communicate in Mandarin/Taiwanese is preferred.\n Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from managers, customers, contractors, employees, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.\n Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, technical requirements, codes, and other project documentation.\n Ability to prepare routine inspection reports, quality documentation, testing documentation, correspondence, and other written records.\n\nPreferred Project Experience\nExperience in System acceptance, closeout, and turnover.\n\nPreferred Certifications and Qualifications\nThe following certifications and qualifications are preferred, as applicable to the assigned scope:\n\n ICC Fire Inspector Certification.\n NICET Fire Alarm Certification.\n NICET Special Hazards Certification.\n NFPA Certification(s).\n OSHA 30.\n Additional relevant fire protection, fire alarm, life-safety, quality, or inspection certifications.\n\nAdditional Work Requirements\nEmployees must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, overtime, alternate shifts, and extended schedules as required to support project needs, inspections, testing, commissioning, startup, turnover, and client requirements.\nWhile employees may be assigned a primary inspection discipline, QA/QC personnel are expected to support the overall quality program and may be assigned quality-related duties across multiple disciplines as directed by the QA/QC Manager or company leadership. Assignments may include inspections, documentation reviews, testing oversight, turnover activities, commissioning support, field audits, quality reporting, and other duties necessary to support project objectives and business operations.\nEmployees must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
