Position Summary Manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and primary nursing principles. Provides age‑appropriate care from 8 years old to geriatric patients, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and meet individual patient needs. Position Requirements Minimum Education Required: Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing Licensure Required: Current Nevada RN license Certification Required: American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification Preferred: ONS/ONCC Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate or willingness to complete within 6 months Minimum Work Experience Required: Professional customer service skills Minimum Work Experience Preferred: Two (2) years minimum nursing experience; ability to read and communicate in English, bilingual abilities preferred; previous infusion nursing experience preferred Position Essential Functions Patient Care Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care Perform admission assessment in accordance with unit standards Document patient needs and treatment plan upon admission Identify and document patients requiring IV therapy who are high risk or have long‑term or critical IV‑related needs Document patient/family/significant other teaching needs regarding IV therapy upon admission and as needed Assist with telemedicine using connected electronic tools to aid provider assessment Treatment Plan Develop and communicate realistic treatment plans in collaboration with patient, family, or significant other Preliminary plan for meeting IV therapy needs, including special needs patients Include recommendations for IV access, placement, and maintenance Collaborate with physician to ensure successful implementation Judgment Implement medical treatment plans, nursing interventions, and procedures with necessary skill and judgment Demonstrate knowledge of medication action, dose, and side effects Follow proper medication administration procedures, including infusion therapy Apply problem‑solving skills through knowledge, research, and practice Follow hospital policies and procedures for medication administration, transcription, recording, and blood transfusion Observe the ten rights of medication administration Administer blood, blood products, and IV access following policy and procedures Assess and document IV sites per unit standard Quality of Care Evaluate problem identification, care provision, and patient response to meet patient and family needs Reassess treatment plan effectiveness with each patient visit Reinforce and reassess IV therapy teaching plan with each visit Assess patient or significant other response to teaching plan to evaluate effectiveness Documentation Maintain up‑to‑date, accurate documentation of nursing care for integration Complete nursing assessment at time of admission or per unit/service standard Record nursing documentation in integrated progress notes with entries per unit standard and when reassessment requires Update medication administration record with full signature, title, time, reason for omission, injection site (if applicable), and waste witnessed Document PICC insertions and removals fully, including catheter info and placement verification Scope of Service Perform responsibilities and duties defined in unit scope, addressing client’s unique needs, including age considerations Carry out nursing interventions, teaching, and management for chemotherapy patients, transfusion and IV therapy patients, including phlebotomy Manage emergency situations with skill and knowledge Operate special equipment such as pumps, blood transfusion equipment, Dynamap, cardiac monitor, and defibrillator Apply specific infusion therapy skills and knowledge Manage IV therapies for problem‑prone IV medications Insert peripheral IV devices, manage PICC lines and ports, and oversee all intravascular IV lines Per Diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule.
