Generator Technician

This generator technician opening includes both field service and shop based roles and pays 31.00 to 42.50 per hour depending on experience. Field service technicians receive a company truck and dispatch from home each day to a defined territory. Shop technicians report directly to the shop and support repairs, rebuilds, and inspections on units returning from the field. Both roles require confidence across mechanical and electrical systems and the ability to take ownership of uptime on natural gas power generation equipment. Work centers on natural gas generators ranging from 5.7 to 21.9 liters. You will perform oil changes, spark plug changes, filter replacements, overhead valve adjustments, battery checks, radiator washing, and load bank testing. You will troubleshoot and repair fuel systems, cooling systems, air injection systems, turbos, manifolds, generator control panels, and 480 volt output issues including diodes and automatic voltage regulators. Field technicians will also mobilize and demobilize equipment at customer sites, tie in electrical cabling and fuel lines, synchronize generators when required, respond to callouts including nights and weekends, and maintain sufficient parts inventory. Shop technicians will complete troubleshooting, teardown, rebuilds, and full system maintenance in a controlled environment. Veterans with experience in generators, power generation, utilities, industrial maintenance, engine repair, or shipboard mechanical and electrical systems will recognize the pace and expectations of this work.
