Bakery Team Member – Front of House

Carlino’s Specialty Food Market & Bakery is seeking a friendly, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Bakery Team Member to join our front-of-house bakery team.

This role is responsible for maintaining the presentation of our pastry and bread cases, assisting customers with selections and orders, packaging baked goods, and working closely with our back-of-house bakery team to ensure products are stocked, displayed, and ready for sale throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in presentation, enjoys working with customers, and understands the importance of keeping a bakery department organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate is proactive, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced specialty food market where quality and customer experience matter.

• Greet customers, answer questions, provide product information, and assist with bakery selections.

• Take customer orders, accurately box and package pastries, breads, and other baked goods.

• Maintain and merchandise pastry and bread display cases, ensuring products are attractively presented and properly stocked throughout the day.

• Monitor case levels and proactively communicate with the back-of-house bakery team to coordinate refills and product availability.

• Slice bread to customer specifications and prepare, label, and tag customer orders as needed.

• Package, price, and label bakery products according to company standards.

• Maintain clean, organized, and well-presented bakery cases, counters, and work areas.

• Pay close attention to merchandising, product placement, freshness, and overall visual presentation.

• Communicate product availability, customer requests, and inventory needs to bakery production staff and department management.

• Work collaboratively with coffee bar staff to provide a seamless customer experience; assist with coffee service as needed.

• Operate the register and process customer transactions when needed.

• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and product-handling procedures.

• Assist with additional bakery and front-of-house duties as needed, particularly during busy weekends and holiday periods.

• Friendly, outgoing, and customer-service oriented.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with customers and fellow team members.

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and product presentation.

• Ability to multitask and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.

• A proactive approach to stocking, merchandising, and maintaining clean, organized displays.

• Comfortable handling food products, packaging orders, and performing repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods.

• Ability to work collaboratively with both front-of-house staff and the back-of-house bakery production team.

• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to meet changing business needs.

• Previous bakery, café, specialty food retail, or customer service experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with breads, pastries, and baked goods is beneficial.

• Register and point-of-sale experience is preferred.

• Coffee bar experience is a plus, or a willingness to learn and assist the coffee bar team.

• On-the-job training is available for candidates with the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

• Full-time and part-time positions available.

• Seasonal hours may be available during busier periods.

• Weekend availability is a plus.

• Availability during holiday weeks is required. Carlino’s is closed on major holidays.
