Position Summary

The Admissions Nurse -LPN is responsible for the coordination of new patient admissions to Seaside Health System. Admissions Nurse -LPN is responsible for reviewing new patient admissions for criteria prior to acceptance.  The Admissions Nurse-LPN must have a working knowledge of hospital operations, specifically including, but not limited to, equal physician assignments, SHS exclusionary criteria, and EMTALA regulations.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the prompt and careful review of new patient referrals for admissions criteria.

• Responsible for maintaining the admit/discharge board.

• Responsible for accurate physician caseload assignments.

• Responsible for maintaining the EMTALA log for patient referrals that comes during their shift.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SHS admissions exclusionary criteria.

• Responsible for compiling new patient charts.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administrator.
  

Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited LPN program.  Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Louisiana. Must be knowledgeable and demonstrate competency in current principles and practices which are clinically specific to medical surgical and psychiatric nursing.  Minimum 1 year recent medical surgical and 1 year psychiatric experience preferred.
