Program Manager, Foundation AI

This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, data science, sensor intelligence, platform engineering, and product, and is responsible for translating complex technical work into clear plans, dependencies, and outcomes to ensure projects are delivered on time, aligned to strategy, and built for scale.Success in this role will require a high degree of adaptability and a solutions mindset, ability to simplify complexity, while continuously managing shifting priorities.Foundation AI capabilities are critical to our ability to innovate quickly and responsibly. This role ensures that the underlying systems powering our features are delivered thoughtfully, reliably, and in a way that unlocks impact across the entire organization.RESPONSIBILITIES:Drive Foundation AI projects from kickoff through development to deployment and stabilizationSupport the VP of Foundation AI to translate strategy into executable roadmaps with clear milestones, risks, dependencies, and success metricsDevelop project plans consistent with business goals and requirements for algorithm performanceEstablish and maintain program governance, including planning cadences, status reporting, decision forums, and executive communicationWork with the FAI team, Data Science, Sensor Intelligence, WHOOP Labs, Data Engineering, Software, Firmware to ensure project objectives and priorities are aligned across departmentsBring together key stakeholders to facilitate timely and lasting decision-makingPartner with the extended team on compute infrastructure planning, focusing on availability constraints, capacity forecasting, vendor quotes/lead times, and tradeoffs across vendors.Partner with the broader RAD program management team to continuously improve the development process to enable execution of projects in an organized, methodical, and predictable manner.Identify and manage project risks and issues, ensuring mitigations are in place to reduce potential impacts.Facilitate cross-functional communication across WHOOP for awareness and understanding.Understanding of technical issues to facilitate resolution of project blockers is a plusQUALIFICATIONS:2+ years of industry experience in program or project management, preferably involving AI/ML, data platforms or large-scale systemsExperience working with AI or applied ML teamsFamiliarity with agile methodologies, sprint planning, backlog grooming processesData-driven approach to strategic planning, comfortable reviewing metrics and identifying ways to measure program successFamiliarity with AI/ML concepts (e.g., model training, inference, data pipelines, evaluation, experimentation), hands-on coding experience is not requiredClear, confident communicator who can bridge deeply technical teams and business stakeholdersProven ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across diverse teamsNice to Have:Experience working with research teamsBackground in consumer technology, platforms, or data-driven productsExperience organizing projects using Jira or similar platformsThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs.
