Job Title: Phlebotomist II Location: 10945 George mason Circle Suite 105 Manassas Virginia 20110 (IOP) Will work at 8640 Sudley Rd Manassas VA (PSC) when not needed at the IOP Orientation and training: Chantilly for orientation, 2nd week at PSC in Manassas Duration: 3 Months
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm Vaccines required: Varicella, MMR, Hep B (candidate can decline) TB and color vision is required. Position Overview The ideal candidate will have experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment while maintaining exceptional patient care and specimen integrity. Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify patient information and accurately match specimens with laboratory requisitions.
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and transportation.
- Update patient information and document specimen collection accurately.
- Perform equipment maintenance and decontamination as required.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations.
- Answer phone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries.
- Participate in required departmental training and maintain quality standards.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or high-volume laboratory setting.
- Overall 2-4 years of healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Proficiency in venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Experience processing and handling laboratory specimens.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification if required by state regulations.
* How many draws are required daily? 30-45
* What is the work environment? (Patient service center, doctor's office) IOP - Internal Family, and PSC
