EPC Project Manager, Utility Scale Solar (Tonopah, AZ)

Overview SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The EPC Project Manager will be responsible for the management of all aspects of utility‑scale solar projects, including project planning, budgeting, buyout, project controls/reporting, scheduling, risk management, and more. This role is located full‑time on a jobsite in Tonopah, AZ and will require travel. Position Responsibilities and Duties In partnership with the superintendent team, plan, execute, and take responsibility for significant scopes of self‑performed work, managing very large labor crews. Plan sequencing, crew‑sizes, productivity goals, and monthly labor spend; execute work and track actual results, adjusting forecasts to reflect production. Work with the superintendent to develop safety plans and implement safety procedures. Oversee preparation of project billings; seek to maximize cash flow and reduce pay cycles through diligent strategic billing preparation. Prioritize the collection of aged receivables and review status regularly in owner meetings. Present and negotiate change orders with owners for timely resolution. Negotiate cost‑effective subcontract and material purchases. Set up and implement job procedures and techniques to assure timely buyout, shop drawing approval, and material delivery. Keep projects on schedule; maintain timely and accurate reporting to management regarding cost forecasting and estimated cost at completion. Manage, train, and supervise the project team per company policy; mentor younger employees for professional growth. Review contract conditions to ensure compliance with all contract terms. Supervise documentation of all significant project events such as accidents, delays, and change orders. Direct pre‑construction services and activities; negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontract bid packages. Effectively manage project risk by evaluating probability and severity of risk events and preparing mitigation plans. Maintain quality control, including development and implementation of the Site‑Specific Quality Management Plan. Avoid or mitigate claims and conflict; complete all job close‑out procedures. Conduct warranty follow‑up (typical 2‑year warranty period) and complete project with full or enhanced fee. Develop and maintain a good relationship with owners, architects, and subcontractors; build a strong partnership with owners while preserving contractual rights. Coordinate with material suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and solve logistical challenges. Negotiate and coordinate with local contract labor providers to ensure sufficient manpower at competitive terms. Organize and lead regular meetings with owners and key project partners. Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural bachelor’s degree preferred. Field construction management experience (5‑8 years, including supervisory skills). Leadership ability to assemble and guide a diverse, high‑performing project team. Strong computer skills with MS Office and industry‑standard tools such as Bluebeam Revu; CMiC experience a plus. Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting. Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating). Strong understanding of utility‑scale PV plant construction means, methods, sequencing, and techniques. Understanding of utility and ISO interconnection sequence and durations. Willingness and ability to travel extensively (minimum 50%) and work on jobsite assignments in remote areas. Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to build trust across departments. Detail‑oriented, motivated self‑starter. Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance Accuracy in proposal schedules driven by understanding project variables and lessons learned. Timely resolution of disputed project claims or impacts through sound schedule hygiene. Broad level scheduling competence throughout operations; foster a strong scheduling culture and awareness.
