LVT I - 24/7 Care, PRN Posting Number: S13921P Department: VetMed-VTH Sm Animal Intermed Position Type: External Employment Type: Employee Work Schedule: PRN shifts within 24/7 Care Area Salary: $17.78 per hour, plus shift differentials Eligibility: Non-Benefits Eligible Position Summary: The Intermediate Care LVT provides 24‑hour nursing care for patients recovering from surgery or illness, facilitating safe release to owners. Responsibilities Patient Management: manage all aspects of patient treatment and care. Communicate changes in patient condition to attending clinician in a timely manner. Provide intermediate animal care: walk, water, feed, transport, restrain, groom. Administer medication, monitor vital signs, collect bodily fluids (blood, urine). Maintain clinical records and enter charges into proprietary software. Stock and restock supplies; ensure facility cleanliness. Assist in procedures including anesthesia induction, catheterization, radiology, and euthanasia. Perform wound care, splint application, and other supportive care as needed. Qualifications Minimum: Technical knowledge via apprenticeship, 2‑year degree, or professional certificate. Licensed, or eligible for license as Veterinary Technician in Georgia. Preferred: Experience as an LVT in Small Animal Emergency, ICU or Intermediate Care. Experience with infectious disease care in isolation units. Ability to work weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays. Strong technical skills: blood sampling, tissue collection, routine lab tests, radiology, catheterization, drug administration, anesthesia induction, nasogastric tube placement, euthanasia, resuscitation, splinting, wound dressing. Physical Demands Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently on hard floors. Manual dexterity for small equipment and large objects. Wear protective gear (mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, goggles). Use wound care equipment and cleaning solutions to prevent infection.
