APRN, Psychiatry (Child and Adolscent)

The Psychiatric APRN is responsible for supporting the Director of Psychiatry in the delivery of an effective, efficient, and high-quality program of psychiatric services to both adult and pediatric patient populations. This role includes the provision of comprehensive psychopharmacological services, integration of primary care and behavioral health services, coordination with outpatient and community-based resources, and collaboration with the broader medical community. The Psychiatric APRN will actively participate in team-based care, provide consultation as needed, and contribute to the advancement of a patient-centered, integrated care model that aligns with Heartland Community Health Center’s mission of improving access and health outcomes for all patients. The Psychiatric APRN shall report directly to the Director of Psychiatry or their designee. Performance evaluations shall be conducted in accordance with Heartland Community Health Center’s personnel policies, no less than annually, by the Director of Psychiatry or their designee. The Psychiatric APRN shall receive clinical supervision from the Director of Psychiatry and is expected to collaborate effectively with administrative leadership, clinical teams, and support staff to ensure the delivery of coordinated, compliant, and high-quality care. Competitive compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 annually National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Eligible Site – As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), eligible providers may qualify for substantial federal student loan repayment assistance 13 Paid Holidays Annually Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) FTCA malpractice coverage provided at no cost to the provider CME allowance and paid CME time Monday-Friday schedule with no routine evenings, weekends, or call Collaborative, integrated care model focused on whole-person care Duties and responsibilities Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for patients ages 26 years and younger, in accordance with scope of practice, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies. Diagnosing Mental Health Conditions: Assess patients to determine if they meet the criteria for specific mental health disorders in an outpatient clinic. This role will conduct thorough evaluations, including medical history reviews, and psychological assessments, to reach an accurate diagnosis. Developing Treatment Plans: Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to the individual's needs. This may involve prescribing medications, recommending psychotherapy or other evidence-based therapies, and providing guidance on lifestyle modifications. Evaluation: Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results. Medication Management: Prescribe and monitor medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions. They assess the patient's response to medication, adjust as necessary, and educate patients about potential side effects and interactions. Collaborate with Other Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care providers, social workers, and dentists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for their patients. This role may consult and collaborate with colleagues to determine the most effective treatment approaches. Monitor Progress and Follow-up Care: Regularly assess the progress of their patients and adjust treatment plans as needed. Monitor the effectiveness of medications, evaluate the impact of therapy, and provide ongoing support to help individuals achieve their treatment goals. Interdisciplinary Care: Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers. Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and assessment for patients seeking care or referred to by healthcare professionals. May provide consultation service to community health providers. Qualifications Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Kansas, in good standing Board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by a nationally recognized certifying body Meets all requirements to provide psychiatric services within scope of practice under applicable Kansas state law and organizational policies Eligible for and maintains credentialing and privileging in accordance with Heartland Community Health Center requirements and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) guidelines Deemed eligible for coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) and maintains compliance with all related requirements Holds a current and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Demonstrates strong diagnostic, clinical assessment, and treatment planning skills in behavioral health Experience in a community health, FQHC, or integrated care setting preferred Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care team and support integrated care delivery models Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Requires frequent movement throughout the building and/or between multiple locations during the day Work is performed indoors in environmentally controlled conditions May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases in a healthcare setting Position is subject to frequent interruptions in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Requires close physical proximity and interaction with employees, patients, and visitors Involves management of personnel and operational procedures in a dynamic setting May be required to move and/or lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods during the shift Requires the ability to communicate effectively, including reading, writing, and speaking English, and exchanging accurate information with patients and team members Must be able to navigate the facility to engage with employees, patients, and visitors as needed Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Details Schedule: Full-time, exempt Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, or as needed to meet the demands of the role Patient-facing hours are expected to be maintained at a minimum of 32 hours per week Location: Heartland Community Health Center and Heartland at Panda Pediatrics Work schedule and location may be adjusted by supervisor(s) as necessary to ensure the effective completion of job responsibilities #J-18808-Ljbffr
