CT Technologist-PRN-Scott Regional

Assess patients and safely perform routine CT procedures in accordance with radiation safety procedures and protocols. Serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. Responsibilities Verify physician order and procedure to assure accuracy. Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care. Explain procedure to patient to ensure understanding. Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV). Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted. Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.). Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, communicating appropriately, and requesting permissions as needed. Perform additional related duties as required. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Work Experience: Refer to Certification Section; Preferred – Clinical CT experience. Certifications: Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography (R) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Current unrestricted license in the state of practice; Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry within two years of employment. Preferred – Advanced certification in CT required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Computer skills for data entry and retrieval; Effective verbal and written communication; Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role-specific software; Strong interpersonal skills; Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language; Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure; Ability to work self-directed and independently; Flexibility in work duties and hours; General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics; Ability to identify stenosis or occlusion based on published criteria; Ability to assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance. Physical and Environmental Demands Work involves medium physical effort; occasional lifting of 20 to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds. Requires standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing, and traveling throughout facilities. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste may occur. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
