Job SummaryThe Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.Hours and WagesMonday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of routeMay be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs10-15 hours of overtime expected each weekVoluntary OT on weekends (as needed)Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per weekStarting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour, based on experienceDuties and ResponsibilitiesCover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as neededDeliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippersInspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicleCollect payments as neededVerify the content of pickups on shipping papersNotify management of any problems or discrepanciesMaintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicleParticipate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignmentsTravel may be requiredPerform other required duties as assignedSkills and AbilitiesAbility to operate a manual transmissionMust possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsementMust possess good customer service and organizational skillsEducation and ExperienceAt least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredMust hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training programPhysical RequirementsAbility to pass a DOT physicalAbility to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionallyFull range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
