Clinical Nurse Manager (O-6 Billet) Supervisory

Summary The Clinical Nurse Manager oversees nursing services at ICE facilities, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. Duties Understand theories, concepts, and principles underlying professional nursing practices to improve efficiency, quality, and patient care. Requirements U.S. citizen. Must successfully pass a background investigation and drug screen. Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service. Must be a current USPHS Commissioned Corps Officer. Successful completion of background and drug screening, plus satisfactory service remaining agreement (18‑24 month commitment). Qualifications Minimum 9 years of professional clinical nursing experience, including 4 years in a specialty area (correctional health care preferred) and 4 years of direct clinical patient care. Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with CPR/BLS certification. Obtain CCHP‑RN certification within 2 years of assignment. Completion of ICE Supervisory Leadership Training within 1 year and Advanced ICE Supervisory Leadership Training within 2 years. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred). Physical Demands This position is hazardous duty in a detention setting. Requires lifting objects greater than 30 pounds and assisting severely ill or injured detainees or staff. Must be able to run short distances, stand for prolonged periods, and perform CPR/emergency care while standing or kneeling. Education & Certifications Proficiency in the Nurse Practice Act and knowledge of state licensing laws. Advanced knowledge of nursing concepts, including mental health, medical/surgical, ambulatory, and emergency nursing. Experience in managing non‑compliant patients and special needs populations. Knowledge of correctional nursing principles and team‑building, staff development, and adult learner teaching skills. Additional Information The position is located within DHS/ICE/EOR/IHSC, reporting directly to the Regional Nurse Manager with the Chief Nurse as reviewing official. The Clinical Nurse Manager serves as part of the local leadership team (TRIAD), supervising the Assistant Nurse Manager and overseeing all nursing services. The role involves occasional travel and requires collaboration with various federal and local partners.
