About the Position

Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of chemotherapy experience required. License: Current RN License issued by the state or a current multistate compact RN License. Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. - ACLS (American Heart Association). - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration. - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate. Must-Have: Current chemotherapy certification with at least 1 year of chemotherapy experience required. Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers oral, subcutaneous injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and provides expert information about chemotherapy and side effects. Assumes responsibility for clinic-specific assignments. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists the physician during conscious sedation procedures and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients to share the care plan while in the clinic and provides information at the time of discharge. Educates patients and their families on clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families and answers inquiries. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff as necessary. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment. Assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing follow-up phone calls with patients after their clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.
