DUTIES:
- Continuing the further development of the clinical programs.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing evaluation and treatment for patients seen in the outpatient clinics, labs, or inpatient services as assigned.
- Providing patient care in the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System.
- The incumbent will attend in the outpatient clinics, labs, or on the inpatient services as assigned, and other clinical services needed by the Service. These clinical responsibilities may include patient care activities with or without trainees.
- Supervising and teaching medical students, interns and residents, and fellows.
- Participate in the educational activities of the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
- Participating in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned, including Section meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Section or Service Chief.
- Providing expert consultation and treatment to patients in all clinical settings.
- Evaluating and triage specialty consults.
- Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, recommend, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
- Coordinating medical management and care within their discipline with Primary Care providers and other Medical/Surgical services and personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
- Providing on-call services as assigned, usually as part of a rotation with other physicians.
- Participating in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level.
- Performing administrative tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to peer reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of Medicine/Chief of Staff/ELT.
- Participating in the educational programs for section personnel as well as the medical staff.
- Demonstrating ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
