Qualifications:
- Achieved, at minimum, a Bachelor's Degree
- Achieved Athletic Trainer certification through Board of Certification Inc. (BOC)
- Holds a valid Michigan Athletic Trainer License
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
- Must have essential technology skills (i.e. laptop, assistive communication devices/technology, and other educational technology and software)
- Responsible for injury prevention programming for coaches and athletes.
- Provide care for injured athletes and assess the need for additional care such as EMS or follow-up with a physician.
- Responsible for communication with parents, health care providers and staff (as permitted by HIPPA).
- Documentation of injuries and treatment including required MHSAA Concussion Reporting.
- Carries out appropriate instructions, treatment and rehabilitation as directed by the supervising Physician, when necessary.
- Assists and advises coaches in the appropriate fit and use of safety equipment.
- Responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition (through the AD) of training room supplies.
- Must be present at all designated contests and practices as coordinated with the AD.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
- Collaborate with AD to ensure safe practice and competition environments-including the development of an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for each sport and venue
- Make parent/guardian phone calls
- Participate in ongoing professional growth provided by the district
- Participate in school/professional and /or community organizations or events
- Seek professional development outside the organization for continued growth
- Maintain certification and endorsement renewals timely
- Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals
