Site Specialist

The Site Specialist oversees the afterschool program at a school in Magna, Utah, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade during the school year. The Site Specialist works closely with educators, parents, and students to support a high-quality afterschool experience. This position works 25 hours per week implementing program activities and maintaining data and reporting requirements that demonstrate grant outcomes and program success. The Site Specialist serves as the primary liaison between families and the afterschool program, fostering strong communication and engagement. The Site Specialist also recruits and supports educators who lead afterschool clubs and enrichment activities. Attendance at occasional evening events is required, including family nights and other program-related activities. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development, family engagement, and creating meaningful educational opportunities for students.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily afterschool program operations and ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for students; managing student check-in and check-out procedures; distributing snacks and ensuring program compliance with applicable guidelines; supporting positive behavior management and student engagement; maintaining accurate attendance records and other required program data; communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student participation and program updates; assisting families and students with registration for afterschool programs and activities; planning and supporting monthly family engagement nights and other family-focused events; collaborating with afterschool staff to ensure successful program implementation and continuous improvement; assisting with recruiting, onboarding, and supporting afterschool educators; providing guidance and support to educators to help ensure the delivery of high-quality afterschool programming; coordinating with Utah State University Extension county youth programs to connect students with additional learning and enrichment opportunities beyond the afterschool program; and attendance at occasional evening events, including family nights and other program-related activities.

Minimum qualifications include experience working with children and youth, basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet-based applications, access to reliable transportation to and from work sites, and availability during all scheduled program operating hours. Preferred qualifications include experience recruiting, supervising, and collaborating with adult staff and volunteers. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to work effectively with youth and their families, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently while also contributing as a member of a team, ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, community partners, and afterschool staff, ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs and work assignments, ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners, commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds, demonstrated initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision, dependable, responsible, and committed to maintaining high standards of performance, strong listening skills and the ability to communicate information clearly and professionally, and willingness to learn new skills, programs, and techniques to support youth development and program success.
