Position Summary

Animal Care Specialists provide daily husbandry, sanitation, enrichment, observation, and welfare support for laboratory NHPs (monkeys) in Alpha Genesis’s farm-style environment.

What You Will Do

Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, cages, racks, floors, perches, enrichment structures, and surrounding areas using hoses, pressure washers, and approved chemicals.

Feed animals, confirm access to clean water, and prepare, clean, and distribute enrichment items.

Observe animals for injuries, disease, abnormal behavior, or welfare concerns and report findings immediately.

Inspect enclosures, troubleshoot minor equipment or latch issues, and report repair needs.

Rake, cut grass, remove dirt, bedding, rocks, and debris, and maintain safe outdoor animal areas.

Safely catch, move, and restrain animals when trained, competent, authorized, and directed.

Maintain accurate husbandry, sanitation, temperature, and task records.

Follow SOPs, biosecurity footpaths, chemical labels, safety procedures, and professional cross-departmental communication requirements.

What We Are Looking For

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding cleaning and animal-care tasks.

Basic reading, writing, communication, math, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid South Carolina driver’s license or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Animal care, agriculture, farm, zoo, kennel, veterinary, pressure-washing, or sanitation experience.
