As Benefits Specialist, you’ll help bring these values to life by ensuring our team members feel informed, supported, and cared for. WHAT YOU WILL DO Benefits Administration & Employee Support Administer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and voluntary benefits programs. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and concerns. Provide timely, accurate, and empathetic support to employees and their families. Manage employee enrollments, status changes, terminations, and qualifying life events. Coordinate and administer open enrollment processes. Assist employees with claims issues and act as liaison with carriers when needed. Maintain accurate records within HRIS and benefits platforms. Compliance & Documentation Ensure benefits administration complies with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and Hawai’i-specific regulations. Support leave of absence (LOA) and accommodation tracking in partnership with Employee Relations. Maintain organized documentation and reporting related to benefits administration. Assist with benefits audits and data requests as needed. Vendor & Internal Coordination Communicate with benefits carriers and vendors to ensure timely processing and issue resolution. Coordinate closely with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll deductions and reporting. Support employee education efforts by clearly communicating plan details and changes. This role requires precision, confidentiality, and a genuine commitment to service. WHAT YOU BRING Experience 3–5+ years of experience in benefits administration or total rewards with a benefits focus. Knowledge of federal and Hawai’i-specific benefits compliance requirements. Experience managing open enrollment cycles and employee benefits communications. Proficiency with HRIS and benefits platforms. Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills. Skills & Mindset Service-oriented and approachable — employees feel comfortable coming to you. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Excellent communication and organizational skills. High level of discretion when handling sensitive information. Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
