Job Description
Exciting Opportunity in PACU Nursing!

Job Description:


- Unit: PACU
- Number of Beds: 15 cubicles
- Shift: 12-hour days, starting at 8:30/9am
- Weekend Requirement: Call on a rotational basis
- Holiday Requirement: Call only, on a rotational basis
- Orientation: 3 shifts focusing on Surginet charting and patient care processes

Key Responsibilities:


- Provide exceptional care in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery
- Maintain a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Collaborate with Charge Nurse and PCA Nurse Aides
- Utilize EMR systems: Cerner and Surginet
- Draw blood and perform EKGs as needed
- Be familiar with manual saturation interpretation and troubleshooting ventilators

Expected Experience:


- Minimum of 2 years in recovery or ICU (first-time travelers are welcome)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS preferred; CPAN or CCRN is a plus
- Pediatric recovery experience is a must; no neonate care
- Knowledgeable in reading ARGs and working with ICP monitors

Common Cases Handled:


- Total joint replacements
- Hysterectomies
- Spinal fusions
- Laparoscopic cholecystectomies
- Brain tumor excisions
- Elective cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms

Additional Highlights:


- Hospitalist and intensivist on-site 24/7
- Rapid access to a full pharmacy and respiratory therapy
- No mandatory floating; must be capable of functioning in Phase 2 and providing discharge instructions
