Next Level Up, LLC is dedicated to empowering students through personalized academic tutoring and skill-based support that builds confidence, independence, and long-term success. We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and compassionate Part-Time Skill-Based Tutor to provide individualized support to students ranging from kindergarten through high school in Colorado Springs.

We are currently looking for candidates with weekend and/or weekday availability, with scheduling based on student needs and tutor availability.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in psychology, behavioral health, education, or a related field who enjoys working directly with children and adolescents. Sessions combine academic support with practical skill development to help students improve not only academically, but also in areas such as confidence, emotional regulation, problem-solving, focus, organization, and persistence.

Key Responsibilities

Skill-Based Tutoring & Individualized Support

• Provide one-on-one skill-based tutoring sessions that combine academic instruction with developmentally appropriate behavioral, emotional, and executive-functioning skills.
• Reinforce classroom learning while helping students develop strategies for managing frustration, maintaining focus, building confidence, and approaching challenging tasks.
• Tailor instruction and interventions to each student's academic level, learning style, strengths, and individual needs.
• Help students develop increased independence and confidence in academic and everyday problem-solving situations.

Academic & Life Skill Development

• Support students in reading, writing, math, study skills, and other academic areas based on individual needs.
• Teach skills such as organization, time management, task initiation, study habits, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and problem-solving.
• Encourage critical thinking, persistence, self-advocacy, and independent learning.
• Use engaging activities and evidence-informed strategies to increase student participation and motivation.

Progress Monitoring & Documentation

• Monitor student progress through observations, assessments, and ongoing documentation.
• Document sessions accurately and thoroughly according to company and billing requirements.
• Communicate relevant progress, concerns, and recommendations to parents/guardians and team members when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records for billing, compliance, and treatment or skill-development goals.

Supportive Learning Environment

• Create a positive, structured, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning and developing new skills.
• Respond to academic frustration, low confidence, behavioral challenges, or emotional dysregulation with patience and consistency.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Help students recognize their strengths and experience measurable success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related behavioral, social science, education, or human-services field OR a master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or another related field required.
• Must meet qualifications necessary to provide skill-based services.
• Experience working with children or adolescents in tutoring, education, mentoring, behavioral health, counseling, skills training, or a related setting strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching and skill-building strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Comfortable supporting students who may struggle with confidence, motivation, attention, emotional regulation, or academic frustration.
• Reliable, organized, patient, and able to complete required documentation in a timely manner.

Schedule

• Part-time position
• We are seeking candidates with weekday and/or weekend availability.
• Afternoon, evening, and weekend hours may be available depending on student schedules.
• Additional hours may be available based on student needs and employee availability.
