Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Police Officer role located in Payson, AZ. The Police Officer is responsible for patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for service, enforcing applicable laws and ordinances, and conducting traffic stops as needed. Daily duties include preparing detailed incident and arrest reports, collecting and preserving evidence, assisting with criminal investigations, and testifying in court when required. The role also involves engaging with community members, participating in crime prevention initiatives, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies. Officers are expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, follow departmental policies and procedures, and act with integrity and respect in all interactions. Qualifications Strong foundation in law enforcement practices, including experience or training related to Police work and Police Officers. Knowledge of procedures for handling Evidence and participation in Criminal Investigations, including documentation and chain-of-custody protocols. Understanding of Law Enforcement principles, relevant laws, and regulations applicable to tribal, local, state, and federal jurisdictions. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including report writing and interacting with diverse community members. High level of physical fitness and willingness to meet applicable physical, medical, and background standards for police service. Demonstrated sound judgment, integrity, and decision-making under pressure, including in emergency and high-stress situations. Completion of accredited police academy training or eligibility to attend, and any required certifications or licensing for peace officers in Arizona. Familiarity with tribal communities or willingness to learn about and respect tribal culture and governance is highly beneficial. #J-18808-Ljbffr Tonto Apache Tribe Police Department
