Job Summary As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, you will receive the staffing support, technology, and resources needed to deliver safe, high-quality care and focus on your expertise. Responsibilities Manage patients with suspected or documented cardiac disease undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Complete and document assessments appropriate to age and patient condition (high‑risk/high‑volume). Reassess and document patient condition as per policy (high‑risk/high‑volume). Administer medications and monitor/respond to patients; document responses (high‑risk/high‑volume). Monitor patient status throughout pre‑, peri‑, and post‑procedure care. Immediately communicate patient changes to the physician (high‑risk/high‑volume). Demonstrate proficiency in managing patients with potentially life‑threatening dysrhythmia or hemodynamic change via physician orders, using medications and emergency equipment: defibrillator, dopamine, NTG, IABP, ventilator. Explain procedures to patients and assess understanding prior to start. Demonstrate ability to use Cath Lab equipment. Enter patient demographic data (high‑risk/low‑volume). Adhere to radiation safety precautions (high‑risk/low‑volume). Safely defibrillate, cardiovert, and pace using the pacer‑defibrillator (high‑risk/high‑volume). Perform functions to support departmental operations at both Round Rock Medical Center and Georgetown Hospital. Serve as liaison among patient, physician, and other departments to optimize care and efficiency (high‑risk/low‑volume). Schedule procedures correctly, including entering reservations (high‑risk/low‑volume). Use Meditech to retrieve patient data (high‑risk/low‑volume). Monitor patients in the CPR unit as designated (high‑risk/low‑volume). Enter charges into Meditech as required (high‑risk/low‑volume). Attend a minimum of 80 % of staff meetings (high‑risk/low‑volume). Assist with department PI activities, orientation for new employees and students, and narcotic count maintenance (high‑risk/low‑volume). Qualifications Registration as a registered nurse (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date. NIH Stroke Scale certification within 6 months of employment start date. Associate degree and at least 1 year of experience in cardiac nursing.
