Summary This vacancy is for a WG - 4749-8,Maintenance Mechanic Worker located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG ACADEMY PUBLIC WORKS SECTION in NEW LONDON, Connecticut. Learn more about this agency Duties Help You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Worker and be responsible for responding to fire alarms, security alarms, and emergencies (electrical failures, water leaks, floods, equipment failures, etc.) when standing 1st or 2nd shift watch. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Cleaning such components as heat exchangers, lube oil coolers, evaporators, boiler tubes, etc.
- Cleaning, lubricating and maintaining the tools and equipment of the various trades.
- Performing routine preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment such as air handlers, fan coils, condensing units, pumps, and air compressor.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance and adjusts equipment controls such as temperature sensors, thermostats, and leak detectors.
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Date of Birth (DOB)
- Photos of yourself (if included on your resume you will not be considered for this position)
- Personal information: such as age, gender, religious affiliation, etc.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

- A one-year probationary period may be required.

- Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)
- Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
- Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
- Use of Measuring Instruments
- Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
- Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
- Knowledge of Materials
