Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
• Titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive medications per physician-outlined parameters
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Interpret and read cardiac monitor strips independently; unit uses Philips monitoring systems supported by telemetry technicians
• Utilize arterial lines and central lines proficiently and provide advanced care for ventilated patients
• Float to lower levels of care as needed (stepdown: 3 patients; general med: 4 patients), with travelers floating first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to interpret EKG strips and titrate drips independently
• Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and care of the ventilated patient
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior MICU or critical care experience with exposure to high-acuity diagnoses such as sepsis and ARDS
• Experience managing a broad range of vasoactive and cardioactive drip titrations
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
• Experience working alongside intensivists, tele-medicine support teams, and house supervisors in a 24/7 coverage model
