Maintenance Supervisor
SIP Manufacturing
Job Description
This is an on-site role in Southaven, MS. Only local applicants will be considered.
\n \nDirect hire only, no agency recruiters.
\n \nBuild Something Big From the Ground Up
\n500,000 square feet. Approximately 150 employees. Three shifts. And we’re just getting started.
\nSIP Manufacturing is building a major new manufacturing operation in Southaven, Mississippi. It will be our second facility, following our operation in Lake Elsinore, California, with more growth ahead.
\nThis is a chance to get in on the ground floor and help build something from the beginning. We’re not just building a facility. We’re building the team, processes, standards, and culture that will define how this operation runs for years to come.
\nWe’re looking for people who take ownership, move with urgency, work well across teams, and want their contribution to make a visible difference. Whether you’re joining us on the production floor, in a technical role, or supporting the operation, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape what comes next for SIP.
\nBeverage manufacturing experience is something we value, but it is not required. If you bring strong experience, the right skills, and the mindset to help us build a great operation, we want to hear from you.
\nCome build it with us.
\n \nSummary
\nThe Maintenance Supervisor supervises the equipment maintenance activities of the assigned shift. The role monitors and directs the Maintenance Technicians who maintain production equipment and related systems, receives and prioritizes maintenance requests, and assigns technicians to open work orders. The position coordinates preventive maintenance with production planning and inspects completed work, inspects equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs, assists with root-cause analysis of failures and implements fixes, maintains repair records, oversees contractors on site, and ensures equipment is safely and properly returned to service.
\nDetailed Responsibility Framework
\nThe following responsibilities define the position’s primary accountabilities in priority order. They do not eliminate reasonable related duties or the need to follow approved policies and procedures.
\n1. Lead safe and compliant maintenance execution
\nEnforce lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, confined-space, hot-work, fall-protection, PPE, food-safety, chemical, and contractor-safety requirements.
\n2. Manage shift maintenance coverage
\nReview the production schedule, planned maintenance, open work orders, equipment constraints, technician availability, and critical risks at the beginning of the shift. Inspect equipment regularly to identify current and potential maintenance needs.
\n3. Prioritize requests and assign technicians
\nReceive maintenance requests, prioritize maintenance activities based on urgency and availability of resources, and assign technicians to open work orders, including preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, inspections, setups, facility work, and production-support requests.
\n4. Coordinate breakdown response and line recovery
\nEnsure failures are made safe, diagnosed, repaired, tested, documented, and returned to service in a controlled manner. Communicate repair status and estimated recovery time.
\n5. Supervise preventive and predictive maintenance execution
\nCoordinate preventive maintenance with production planning staff and inspect completed work for completeness. Ensure assigned PM work is completed according to approved job plans, frequencies, technical requirements, parts needs, and documentation standards.
\n6. Verify repair quality and equipment restart readiness
\nConfirm guards, tools, parts, lubricants, temporary repairs, debris, and work areas are controlled before equipment is returned to Production. Obtain required Quality or sanitation verification when applicable.
\n7. Manage change-part and tooling installation
\nEnsure change parts, tooling, fixtures, and format components are correctly identified, installed, adjusted, tested, removed, cleaned when required, and returned to their designated locations.
\n8. Support production changeovers and startups
\nProvide maintenance support for equipment setup, format changes, adjustments, startup issues, and stabilization within authorized technical limits.
\n9. Control maintenance work orders in MaintainX
\nMaintain records and documentation related to repairs made. Ensure work requests, labor, downtime, failure codes, repairs, parts usage, findings, and follow-up work are accurately documented and closed promptly.
\n10. Manage parts usage and shortage escalation
\nVerify parts issued to work orders, record usage, identify critical shortages, return unused parts, and escalate reorder or emergency-purchase requirements.
\n11. Lead initial failure investigation
\nCapture failure symptoms, conditions, causes, repair details, and repeat-history information. Escalate significant or recurring failures for formal root-cause analysis.
\n12. Address facility and utility issues during the shift
\nCoordinate response to electrical, water, compressed-air, HVAC, refrigeration, drainage, lighting, dock, and other facility or utility problems.
\n13. Supervise contractors on site
\nOversee the work of contractors and subcontractors. Verify contractor authorization, orientation, safety compliance, food-safety controls, work scope, permits, access, cleanup, documentation, and completion.
\n14. Control temporary repairs
\nEnsure temporary repairs are safe, food-safe, clearly documented, time-limited, monitored, and converted to permanent corrective work within the approved timeframe.
\n15. Maintain maintenance-area organization and readiness
\nEnsure tools, shop areas, parts, repair materials, and maintenance work zones are clean, controlled, organized, and protected from contamination risks.
\n16. Supervise and develop Maintenance Technicians
\nMonitor and direct the Maintenance Technicians responsible for production equipment and related systems. Provide task direction, technical coaching, troubleshooting support, cross-training, and competency feedback, and identify additional training needs.
\n17. Monitor shift maintenance performance
\nTrack breakdowns, response times, repair duration, PM completion, repeat failures, open work, parts shortages, and production impact.
\n18. Complete an effective shift handoff
\nCommunicate equipment condition, temporary repairs, open work orders, outstanding PMs, parts needs, contractor work, facility concerns, and required follow-up to the incoming Supervisor and Manager.
\n19. Support reliability and continuous improvement
\nAssist with root-cause analysis of equipment failures and implement fixes and approved actions that improve equipment reliability, maintainability, safety, changeovers, and production performance.
\nPerformance Measures and Indicators
\nThe measures below define the potential indicators used to evaluate this position. Leadership will select and weight the primary measures for each annual performance period based on business priorities. Remaining measures may be used as supporting operating indicators. Specific targets, data sources and review frequency will be established through SIP’s annual business-planning and performance-management process.
