Operating Room Registered Nurse

Up to $5,000 Sign on Bonus Full Time Benefit Eligible Schedule: Full Time, 8-Hour or 10-Hour Day Shifts, Occasional weekend, holiday and on call shifts Hospital: Henry Ford Providence, Southfield Campus GENERAL SUMMARY: * Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. * Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. * Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. * Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions. * Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. * Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure. * Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure. * Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning. * Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * BSN preferred. * Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. * Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. * Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. * Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel. * 2-years of previous OR experience highly preferred. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: * Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing. * Health care provider certification (BCLS).
