We are seeking a compassionate Associate Urgent Care Veterinarian to join the team at our independent, privately-owned small animal exclusive practice in the beautiful countryside of New Prague, MInnesota (SW Metro Minnesota, 45 minutes from the Twin Cities). This is for a part-time position, for coverage of one or more 5-hour morning shifts per week, 8a-1p. You will primarily provide urgent care services to include diagnosing and treating dogs and cats for urgent illness visits. Daily responsibilities will include performing examinations and diagnostics on sick pets, sedation procedures and some surgeries, treating illness/injury and urgent care cases, prescribing medications and follow-up care as needed. We do a large volume of urgent care cases, have a wonderful support team, and awesome clientele. If you are passionate about providing exceptional animal care, we’d like to meet you. Our recently remodeled clinic is complete with digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house lab, private surgical suite, large treatment area, and an awesome, trained staff. Responsibilities Provide urgent care assessments, examinations and diagnostics on sick pets Diagnose illnesses and injuries and recommend treatment Perform surgeries including dental, ophthalmic, and soft tissue procedures as needed Administer vaccinations Prescribe medication Advise pet owners on follow-up care and overall pet well-being No on-call, no pager, no weekends Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, licensed in Minnesota or ability to obtain Previous work experience as a veterinarian in an urgent care/emergency clinic setting Knowledge of medical equipment and sedation/anesthesia procedures Skilled and comfortable with soft tissue and surgical procedures, lameness assessment, ADR workups, and allergy care Strong, motivated team work ethic and positive communication skills Ability to explain complex medical concepts in simple terms for our clients Problem-solving skills Weekday shifts ideally to include a 5-hour shift on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or a rotating Thursday/Friday, but we are flexible!
