Head Volleyball Coach

Responsibilities The head women’s volleyball coach is responsible for the general oversight and leadership of all aspects of the volleyball program. Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities include: Practice and game preparation. Supervision of the assistant coaching staff. Recruitment and retention of qualified student‑athletes. Overseeing academic success and student‑athlete welfare. Managing team travel including transportation, lodging and meals. Actively engaging in alumni relations and fundraising activities. Performing other administrative duties within the Athletics and Recreation Department as assigned. Supervision General supervision is received from the Director of Athletics. Supervision exercised over part‑time assistant coaches, graduate assistants, student workers and student interns. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, recreation, physical education, or related discipline. Master’s degree desirable. Two to four years of relevant coaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; understanding of Vermont State University’s educational goals, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion; awareness of socio‑economic and educational challenges of rural students; familiarity with holistic student success approaches. Skills: Strong technical coaching skills; broad knowledge of athletic facilities, management, coaching, recruiting; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proficiency or ability to learn technologies such as SSE, Colleague, Self‑Service, Slate, Microsoft products, and Perceptive Content; accountability, organization, problem‑solving. Abilities: Positive influence on student skill development; foster student success goals; demonstrate positive attitude toward Vermont State University; support a diverse community; collaborate with university personnel and external stakeholders; willingness to work weekends and evenings. Other Details Scheduled Hours: Weekly 37.5 hours. Budgeted Wage: $52,000 - $55,000. Exempt Status: Exempt (Grade: S12). #J-18808-Ljbffr
