(Auraria) Campus Police Officer Intern (Police Academy Sponsored)

About the Role The Auraria Campus Police Department (ACPD) seeks a Police Officer in Training for a sponsored position to attend an accredited police academy. The selected officer will respond to civil matters, enforce local, state, and federal laws, maintain public safety, and participate in community policing and special event crowd management. Essential Functions Respond to civil matters and enforce applicable laws. Write reports, conduct preliminary investigations, collect evidence. Respond to alarms and perform patrols on foot, bike, and vehicle. Detect and arrest wrongdoers, provide community policing activities. Participate in ongoing training and qualify in firearms proficiency on a quarterly basis. Complete training period before advancing to Officer I with one year of experience. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of customer‑based full‑time experience or equivalent education/experience. At least 21 years of age. High school diploma or GED. Valid, unencumbered Colorado driver’s license at time of application. Complete all supplemental questions for screening. Necessary Special Requirements No felony convictions, domestic violence convictions, or certain misdemeanors. No more than seven points in last year and no more than 12 points within last two years on a driver’s license. No alcohol or drug related traffic convictions in last three years and no repeat alcohol/drug convictions after age 18 within ten years. Special Requirements / Selection Process Requirements Must be available for required assessments and interviews on specified dates. Failure to attend scheduled assessment may result in removal from consideration. Additional Special Requirements Position subject to background investigation, physical and psychological evaluations, polygraph interview, fingerprint check, and drug screen. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license at time of application. Conditions of Employment Selected applicant must sign a contract allowing reimbursement of academy cost if employment terminates within two years of FTO completion. Background, polygraph, fingerprint, and drug screening required. Background investigation includes CCIC and NCIC clearances. Must pass physical and psychological examination by licensed provider. Must have ability to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 20 lbs constantly. Must not have received a failing result on a psychological evaluation in preceding 12 months, and must not have been involuntarily terminated in preceding 12 months.
