Accounts Payable Clerk

Our client, a regional financial services company based in Austin, is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for a temporary assignment to support their growing accounting department. This role processes vendor invoices, reconciles statements, and helps maintain accurate financial records during a period of increased transaction volume.

The position works closely with the accounting team to ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time, vendor relationships remain positive, and internal controls are followed. This is a hands-on role suited for someone comfortable with high-volume data entry and basic reconciliation work.

This assignment offers the opportunity to gain experience with a well-established company and build accounting skills in a structured office environment. Strong performers may be considered for extension or future openings.

Responsibilities

  • Process high volumes of vendor invoices for payment
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH payments
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records
  • Assist with month-end close for the accounts payable ledger
  • Support internal and external audit requests as needed

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar ERP systems a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines simultaneously
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin during standard business hours
