Software Engineer Level 2

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE TS/SCI W/ FULL SCOPE POLYGRAPH SECURITY CLEARANCE (U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED) Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional experience developing backend systems in Java.
• Strong proficiency with Java and core JVM concepts.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Practical experience with Spring and Spring Boot with the ability to evaluate when it's appropriate to use.
• Experience with Object-Relational Mapping frameworks such as Hibernate.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and schema design; experience with NoSQL technologies is a plus.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, maintainable software systems.
• Experience working with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Experience working in Linux and Unix environments (e.g. RHEL).
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
• Comfortable participating in code reviews and maintaining high code quality standards.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience making architectural decisions and guiding technical direction on backend systems.
• Demonstrated ability to build lightweight, purpose-fit solutions.
• Experience designing APIs and service boundaries in distributed systems.
• Experience with the Atlassian, Gitlab or similar CI/CD toolsuites.
• Experience with automated testing, Test Driven Development, or similar quality-driven practices.
• Experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or other document/NoSQL datastores.
• Some frontend exposure (React, Angular, or similar) is a plus, though not required.
• Previous industry experience and experience working on fast-paced high complexity solutions for clients.
• Desire to grow and continue advancing with the company in the long-term.
• Experience in DevOps or related technical roles.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and infrastructure tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with the Atlassian, Gitlab or similar CI/CD toolsuites.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Knowledge of Linux and Unix systems (e.g. RHEL).
• Experience working with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.

Fourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Highly Desired -Cloud Experience: Shall have three (3) years demonstrated work experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, etc.; Shall have demonstrated work experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.; Shall have demonstrated work experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS); Shall have demonstrated work experience with Serialization such as JSON and/or BSON Qualifications

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
• Debug existing software and correct defects
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Write or review software and system documentation
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
• Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
• Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
• Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
• Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
• Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
• Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Compensation: We are committed to providing fair and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $250,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation offered across the locations where we hire. The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate's work location, specific role, skill set, and level of expertise.
