Golf Maintenance Mechanic

Job TitleUnder the direction of the Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent this non-exempt position is responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor, semi-skill and skill diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining golf course equipment, including mowers, trucks, golf cars and support equipment and vehicles.Essential FunctionsESSENTIAL DUTIES:Repairs and maintains golf course equipment. Performs basic oil changes, grinds mower reels, and rebuilds engines, transmission and drive trains.Performs complex mechanical duties including troubleshooting equipment problems and mower adjustments.Maintains detailed records on all changes, repairs or modifications to equipment and related supplies and tools.Requests and/or places orders for parts and supplies.Operates and/or field tests all equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.Regulates employee use of equipment.Diagnoses and observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.Diagnoses, services and repairs various systems and components that are found on pieces of heavy and light equipment and vehicles to maintain equipment and vehicles in safe operating condition.Identifies and repairs problems by performing routine to technical diagnostics including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic, given equipment available.Implements and monitors a preventive maintenance program to assure cost-effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program, to provide maintenance by manufacturers' specifications.Performs preventive maintenance of light to heavy equipment including changing oil and filters, lubricating and checking fluids, belts, hoses, tires, and brake systems.Maintains a complete inventory system through recording all expenditures and income of each vehicle, maintenance, equipment, gasoline, repair parts, and supplies, etc.Monitors user departments by analysis of vehicle and equipment utilization and evaluation of equipment specifications.Welds, replaces parts, repairs parts, and diagnoses vehicles for minor body and fender work.Ensures that all safety policies and regulations are followed and adhered to by self, others, and the public.Maintains tools, equipment and/or shop area to ensure the availability of tools, equipment and safety within the workspace. Organizes and cleans working environment, assuring safety and orderliness.Performs work according to service manuals, schematics and hydraulic flow charts.Trains other employees in performing in mechanical repairs such as preventive maintenance including changing oil and filters, and lubricating and checking fluids, belts, hoses, tires, and brake systems.SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:Performs other related duties as required.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:None.Minimum QualificationsCERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid Driver's License.REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.This position is not eligible for benefits.
