## Job Description

- Location: Asheville, NC
- Shift: 06:45 - 19:15
- Unit: 4Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC)
- Capacity: 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds

### Patient Population:
- Care for patients following cardiovascular and vascular surgeries, including:
- Open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, etc.)
- Thoracic lung surgeries
- Vascular procedures (AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies)
- Manage overflow medical cardiology patients with various conditions such as:
- Heart failure
- Chest pain
- Sepsis
- Heart block

### Team Structure:
- Total Staff: ~100
- Day Shift Staffing: 1 Charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 1.33 HUC
- Night Shift Staffing: 1 Charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, 0.33 HUC
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 for RNs, 1:13 for PCTs


### Equipment & Technology:
- Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts.
- EMR: Cerner for efficient patient management.

### Skills and Experience Required:
- Must Have:
- Stepdown and telemetry experience.
- Preferred:
- Recent experience in CV surgery and vascular surgery.
- CVICU experience.

### Responsibilities:
- Epidural management
- Chest tube management
- Tube feedings
- IV medication management including but not limited to:
- Phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone
- Amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine

### Personality Traits:
- Team player with a flexible approach.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment.

### Commitment:
- Weekend Requirements: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
- Floating Areas: Any SD or MS unit, ER inpatient holding area.

### Guaranteed Hours:
- 36 hours per week (Contract Weeks: 91)
