Welder

Position: Welder Shift: Monday-Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm Employment Type: Full-Time Pay Rate: Starting at $19.00/hour + Full Benefits Package Location: Jamestown, ND Job Summary: Welds and assembles metal pieces and products using wire-feed welding equipment. Duties/Responsibilities Prepares, assembles and tack welds steel frames and other component parts of machinery and equipment. Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage. Operates pneumatic, electric, or manual overhead chain hoists to properly move heavy parts into position for final assembly. Operates forklift to move machine parts to other locations of the assembly operation. Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Dependable, motivated and self-starter. Reads and understands blueprints and shop drawings, uses a square or combination square, straightedge ruler and tape measure. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments. Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications preferred. Welding or mechanical experience is preferred. Physical Requirements Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. Must be able to see details at close range. Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Must be able to navigate facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials. Wear and work in personnel protective equipment. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to loud. Frequently exposed to airborne particles. Exposure to heat/humidity during summer months.
