Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Neurosurgery

This is an on-site, contract position within a dynamic healthcare environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care and advanced surgical outcomes.

As a Locum Neurosurgery Physician, you will provide essential coverage, perform neurosurgical consultations and procedures, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. This Associate-level role is ideal for physicians seeking a flexible yet impactful contract assignment in a supportive and fast-paced clinical setting.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and diagnostic assessments for neurosurgical conditions.
• Perform neurosurgical procedures and interventions in accordance with established medical standards.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with complex neurological disorders.
• Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Provide on-call coverage and emergency neurosurgical care as required.
• Document patient histories, surgical findings, and treatment outcomes accurately and promptly.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and post-operative care.
• Participate in clinical rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all medical, legal, and regulatory standards.
• Stay current with advancements in neurosurgical techniques and best practices.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Neurosurgery.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the state where the assignment is located.
• Associate-level experience in neurosurgery, including surgical and clinical practice.
• Strong knowledge of neurological anatomy, surgical techniques, and patient management.
• Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced medical practice environment.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical demands and on-call schedules.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality of care.
• Level I trauma

Schedule: 24-hour call shifts, 7a-7a

Case Types: General neurosurgery, trauma, and spine

Required Procedures: EVD placement, bolt placement for intracranial pressure monitoring, CLEM, craniectomies, craniotomies, spines, IC management of severe TBI patients, brain tumors

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

ACLS, BLS, and DEA preferred
